Be prepared when coming to the Disability Rights Legislative Day (DRLD) on February 25, 2026! Take a few minutes to review the accessibility features and challenges of the Capitol building. Need help? Look for the Access Team in bright teal shirts!

Outside (Circle Drive, Main Entrance)
- CHS’s Mobile Sensory and Accessibility Resource Center (trailer)
- Free for everyone!
- One side: sensory room + free sensory bags to take inside
- Other side: universal restroom (no Hoyer lift)
- Rally (1st Floor Rotunda)
- Big captions on screen above the stage.
- FM transmission headsets for hearing aids/cochlear implants. Ask someone in a Teal or Black DRLD shirt where to pick them up and drop them off.
Entrances & Elevators
- Main accessible entrance: Circle Drive
- Side entrance by garage: If the ramps leading to this entrance are too steep, use the side garage entrance (basement).
- Elevators: 3 on every floor in the same location (Senate side, House side, Governor’s Elevator in the middle). The Governor’s elevator is small and is not big enough for power wheelchairs.
Restrooms
- Basement: Large family restroom near Café (House side) with Hoyer lift, an adult-size changing table, and space for attendants.
- Men’s and Women’s restrooms on each floor (locations vary). Look for bright gold “Men’s” or “Women’s” above doors.
Other Features
- Wheelchairs: 4 travel chairs available to borrow at Museum Shop (near main entrance)
- Basement Café: Small café + vending machines (House side).
- 4th Floor: To cross between House and Senate sides without stairs, go down a floor, cross, then come back up.
- House & Senate Galleries on 4th Floor: Stair lifts in the southeast corner of each chamber.

- Call 911 for medical emergencies or for any situation that is immediately dangerous. Then tell Capitol Police at entrances or wherever you see them.
- For non-emergency help, go to the Capitol Police. (Example, if someone wanders off and you cannot locate this person).
